Flora

Orchids are abundantly strewn around the foothills as well as the snowclad peaks of Arunachal Pradesh. Approximately 450 species of rich orchid species are found in Arunachal Pradesh. Many of the orchids are rare and endangered and are listed in the Wildlife Conservation Act of Government of India. Hispid a very rare and endangered species found in the low latitudinal grassy areas of Arunachal Pradesh is an object of interest among the botanists.

Flora & Fauna

When you go wandering along the mountaintop you will come across the wild life preservationist, which shelter varieties of wildlife. You will be lucky to find the snow leopard lurking or the tiger, leopard or the clouded leopard sneaking about. There are other cats the golden cat and the marbled cat too.

Arunachal Pradesh houses the hoolock gibbon, slow loris, Assamese macaque, rhesus macaque, piglailed macaque, stumptailed macaque and Capped lan-gur, the seven species of monkeys

The rare species of antelopes in India are found in Arunachal Pradesh. They are the serow, goral and takin. Mittan which is breed of the wild gaur and the domestic cattle, buffalo and elephant are found in the plains and hills of Arunachal Pradesh.

Musk deer, bharal, Himalayan black bear, red panda are the high altitude animals found throughout the state. Large number of rodents, squirrels, porcupine and rats, civet, mongoose, linsang, shrew and bat species are found here.

Bird watchers have a great time looking for the 500 different species of birds. The white winged duck, sclater monal, temmin'ck's tragopan, Bengal florican are some of the rare and endangered species still found in the State. This is the richest State in pheasants with some 10 species.

Reptiles, amphibia and pisces are also found in abundance. Pythons and snakes are also found in the jungles of Arunachal Pradesh. In the dense evergreen forests of Arunachal Pradesh one can also find the numerous species of moths, beetles and butterflies.
