Tour to Sibsagar

Sibsagar, situated at a distance of 369 kms from Guwahati is an historical city. Sibsagar was the capital of the mighty Ahoms, who ruled Assam for more than six hundred years before the advent of the British. The most remarkable landscape of the town is the 200 year old Sibsagar tank. The town, which literally means 'the ocean of Lord Shiva', is strewn with the tell-tale ruins of a powerful empire. The most remarkable landmark of the town is the 200 year old Sibsagar tank. Modern Sibsagar is a fast developing urban settlement.
It is the headquarters of the district Sibsagar, a leading tea and oil producing centre.

Sibsagar experiences somewhat humid climate especially during the rainy seasons. Winter sets in from around the end of the month of October and lasts till the end of February. The temperature drops to a minimum of 6 to10 degrees Celsius, the nights and early mornings are foggy, and rain is scanty. Summer arrives in the middle of May accompanied by high humidity and rainfall. The temperature reaches a maximum of 35 to 38 degrees Celsius.
