  • You can catch a glimpse of the Naga culture in Nagaland State Museum, which is just one and half km north to Kohima. The panoramic display of their items including jewellery, gateposts, statues, pillars and a ceremonial drum that looks like a war canoe throws light on the various tribes of Nagaland and their origin can be traced to Sumatra.
  • During the World War II, the route which the Japanese took -the highway from Imphal to Dimapur-to reach the plains of India, were encountered by the Indian army. A brief skirmish took place where we lost many brave lives but stopped the Japanese from advancing further. It is here the World War II Cemetery with immaculate gardens stand as a memorial to the Allies who died on this very spot during the three-month Battle of Kohima that ended in April 1944. A bronze plaque with a suitable epitaph supports each grave.
