Bishnupur lying at a distance of 27 Km. from Imphal is one of the pleasant looking, plentiful tourist spot in the north east of India which has real abundance to enrich all the tourists with its natural resources and bountiful natural bliss. Stretching between 93.43 º E and 93.53 º E Longitudes and 24.18 º N and 24.44 º N Latitudes the total geographical area of the District is 530 Sq. Km. It is bounded on the North by Imphal West District, on the South by Churachandpur District, on the East by Imphal and Thoubal Districts. Bishnupur is also renowned for its stone production.There is 64 Revenue villages in the District. For a better and convenient administration the District is divided into three Sub-Divisions. There are 6 (Six) Assembly Constituencies dividing the total locality.
The climate of Bishnupur is moderate. The district gets the reflection of the heat of the summer and the cold of the winter from the neighboring hills. The months of November, December, January and February remain dry and the remaining eight months are more or less rainy. January is very cold in winter and May-June are the hottest in summer.

- The Bishnu Temple:
The conical roofed shrine dedicated to Lord Vishnu was built in 1467 during the reign of King Kiyamba.
- Keibul Lamjao National Park:
Kelbul Lamjao National Park is situated 53km from Imphal on the fringes of Loktak Lake. The only floating National Park in the World, on the Loktak Lake is the last natural habitat of "Sangai" - the dancing deer of Manipur.
- Loktak Lake and Sendra Island:
Loktak Lake is a largest fresh water lake in the North-Eastern region of India. Loktak Lake is spread upto 312 sq. km area and looks like a miniature island sea.
- Phubala:
Phubala resort is a virgin land 40 km south of Imphal. Besides the human inhabitants of the lake, there are other life forms here too.
- Ecological Park:
This was established in the year 1992. The park houses - Rock Garden, Hawa Ghar, Circular Path and Japanese Pond.
