Aizawl lies just north of Tropic of cancer. Summer temperature ranges between 30o C-20oC and in winter the temperature varies between 21o C-11o C. The best time to visit Aizawl is between October – March.

The traditional handicrafts of Aizawl people include the Khumbeu ceremonial hat that is made of waterproof wild Hnahthial leaves. Other handicrafts include items such as shawls, textiles, bags and fine bamboo. The traditional crafts of Mizoram are weaving, cane and bamboo work. The Mizo women weave intricate traditional designs and patterns on their looms. For example, the shawls carrying tribal clan motifs woven into them and are passed down the generations. Mizo food is simple, basically made up of lentils, bamboo shoots and fish; pork, chicken and wild game meat and rice are hot favorites. Maize is widely grown and eaten.
