Ujjayanta Palace

Traveling to Tripura, you will get a chance to visit its many palaces and museums. Ujjayanta Palace is a Greek styled palace located at the heart of the city.
The palace was previously located at the outskirts about 10 kms from the city. A devastating earthquake in1897 destroyed it and it was later built in its present location. Built by Maharaja Radha kishore Manikaya in 1901, the palace covers a huge area and is surrounded by beautifully manicured gardens, flanked by two tanks on either side, fountains in numbers adorn the gardens and the is styled according to the Mughal Gardens. The Temple is itself an edifice of grandeur, wooden carved ceiling, tiled floors and exquisitely carved doors are some of the areas of the palace worth concentrating. It is a three storeyed castle with three spectacular domes. It cost around 10 lakh to build the palace. In the palace complex there are many temple build around. Temples of Jagannath, Kali, Lakshmi-Narayan and Uma-Maheshwari grace the area. The palace is now the Assembly House of Tripura.

Neermahal

Neermahal is a spectacular water palace built in 1930 by Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya. Built as a summer resort, it is an architectural splendor uniting both Hindu and Muslim architecture and design. It is located at a distance of about 53 km from Agartala. The beautiful palace is circumscribed with the Rudrasagar Lake covering an area of 5.3 sq. km. The migratory birds visit the lake during the winters. The well-laid gardens add beauty to the grandeur of the palace. It reflects the past glory of the kings. Tripura Government Museum

The ancient Tripura finds its place in the Tripura Government Museum in Agartala that was built in 1970. Museums as they generally are house the most important and distinctly different heritage of the country concerned. The Tripura museum also exhibits the rare collection of coins of the royal days to rare stones and archeological discoveries of Tripura. Exquisite articles of stone and archeological findings unearthed from the nearby sites, Bengal embroidery known as ‘Kantha’, sculptures of rare value with 8th-10th century Buddhist sculptures from Pilak grace the museum. Numerous other works of art and architecture can be found in the museum.
